SUMMARY:Signals from the Field: What Makes Incubation Programmes Effective?
DESCRIPTION:What does it really mean for incubation to be effective\, and how do we know if what we’re doing is actually working? \nAcross the ecosystem\, effectiveness is often measured through outputs – the number of startups supported\, funds raised\, or ventures scaled. But these indicators only tell part of the story. They don’t always capture how programmes are designed\, how decisions are made\, or how well incubators are responding to the realities of the founders they support. \nThis session brings together research and practice to explore what drives effective incubation. \nDrawing on a synthesis of literature and field insights\, we will examine emerging patterns around what is working\, what is not\, and where there is still ambiguity. These ‘signals from the field’ offer a way to step back from assumptions and better understand how effectiveness is being shaped across different contexts\, particularly in resource-constrained environments across the Global South. \nAt the same time\, this session is designed to be interactive and grounded in practice. \nThrough a hands-on case study exercise\, participants will engage with real-world incubation scenarios and reflect on the choices that shape programme outcomes – what to prioritise\, what to measure\, and what to change. These discussions will connect directly back to the insights shared\, helping bridge the gap between evidence and lived experience. \nThe session will then surface key learnings from across the field\, highlighting where there is alignment\, where approaches diverge\, and what this means for incubators navigating complexity in their work. \nWe will close by translating these insights into practical shifts – small but meaningful changes that can strengthen programme design\, decision-making\, and approaches to measuring effectiveness. \nThis session is not about arriving at definitive answers. It is about building a clearer\, shared understanding of what effective incubation can look like  and identifying practical ways to move closer to it. \nWhat you’ll take away \n\nA clearer framing of incubation effectiveness beyond outputs\n2–3 key insights to reassess your current programmes\nAt least one practical change or experiment to test within your incubation model\nA sense of where your approach aligns – or diverges – from broader field insights\nNew perspectives from peers working across different regions and contexts \n\nWho should join? \nThis session is open to all current and potential Pollinate Impact members\, and is particularly relevant for: \n\nResearch and M&E teams\nPartnership teams\nCXOs and organisational leadership\n\nIf you are involved in designing\, evaluating\, or strengthening incubation programmes\, this session offers a space to reflect on your current approach and engage with insights from across the field.

SUMMARY:The Pollinator's Toolkit: Unlocking Affordable & Accessible Capital
DESCRIPTION:Access to capital remains one of the biggest barriers for emerging impact enterprises.\nBut the challenge isn’t just about access\, it’s about the right kind of capital\, at the right stage. \nAcross the ecosystem\, many ventures find themselves stuck in what is often called the ‘missing middle.’ They are too advanced for grants or early crowdfunding\, but not yet ready for traditional investment. As a result\, they either rely on short-term philanthropic funding or give up equity too early\, both of which can limit long-term sustainability. \nThis session explores one pathway to bridge that gap: by looking not just at capital itself\, but also at the systems that enable it to flow more effectively. \nAs part of The Pollinator’s Toolkit\, we spotlight LendForGood and Vula – two platforms working on different\, but complementary\, parts of this challenge. While LendForGood enables affordable\, crowd-powered debt financing for impact enterprises\, Vula provides AI-powered infrastructure that helps enterprises discover\, navigate\, and access the right funding opportunities more efficiently. \nTogether\, they offer a more complete picture of how capital can be unlocked\, by improving both access to funding and the pathways that connect enterprises to it. \nThis session will walk through how these models work in practice — from enterprise onboarding and campaign execution to funding discovery and application — while also exploring what makes an enterprise a strong fit for different types of capital. \nImportantly\, the session is grounded in the role that incubators can play. \nTogether\, we will explore how impact incubators can engage with platforms like LendForGood and Vula as active partners in preparing ventures\, shaping pipelines\, and expanding the range of capital pathways available to their portfolios. \nThis session is really about rethinking how incubators can support enterprises beyond early-stage funding\, and how alternative financing models and infrastructure can become part of a more complete and accessible capital stack. \n \nWhat we’ll explore \n\n How different forms of capital — including debt\, equity\, and grants — fit within a broader capital stack\n • How LendForGood and Vula operate in practice\, from funding access to application pathways\n • What makes an enterprise a strong fit for different types of financing\n • How incubators can support ventures in navigating and accessing capital more effectively\n • Practical ways to expand funding pathways for early-stage and underserved enterprises\n\nWhat you’ll take away\n\n • The ability to identify 2–3 ventures that could benefit from improved access to funding pathways\n • Practical ideas for integrating alternative financing and capital navigation tools into your programme design\n • Clarity on how to collaborate directly with both platforms\n • Greater confidence in supporting entrepreneurs to navigate and access capital more effectively \nWho should join? \nThis session is open to Pollinate Impact members only\, and is particularly relevant for:\n • Programme managers\n • M&E teams\n • Teams supporting enterprise growth and funding pathways \nIf you are working closely with founders navigating funding challenges\, especially those not yet ready for traditional investment\, this session offers a practical way to expand your approach. \nSpeakers \nTom Dawkins — LendForGood\nKevin Korir — Vula

SUMMARY:Seeds of Success: Positioning Health Enterprises within Donor Priorities with ASSIST Asia
DESCRIPTION:Health-focused enterprises across the Global South are doing critical work. \nBut too often\, there’s a gap between the value they create and how donors understand\, prioritise\, and fund solutions. \nWhat makes an enterprise fundable is not always the same as what makes it impactful. And for many incubators and entrepreneurs\, navigating this gap can be one of the most challenging parts of the journey. \nThis session explores how that gap can be better understood and more effectively bridged. \nIn this Seeds of Success convening\, we bring together ASSIST Asia and voices from across the Pollinate Impact network to unpack how donors are currently thinking about health innovation. We’ll talk about everything – from the language they use\, to the frameworks they rely on\, to the signals that shape funding decisions. \nDrawing on both practitioner insight and lived experience\, the session will explore how health enterprises can position themselves in ways that resonate with donor priorities\, without losing their core mission or connection to the communities they serve. \nThrough guided reflection and a hands-on activity\, participants will step into both sides of the conversation — exploring how different donor personas evaluate opportunities\, and how subtle shifts in framing can influence how ideas are received. \n  \n \nWhat we’ll explore\n\nHow donors are currently framing priorities in health\nWhat makes a health enterprise fundable beyond impact alone\nWhere alignment gaps between enterprises and donors tend to arise\nHow incubators can support ventures in navigating donor expectations\nPractical ways to strengthen how health enterprises are positioned for funding\n\nWhat you’ll take away\n\nA clearer understanding of donor language\, priorities\, and decision-making in health\nAt least one concrete adjustment you can apply to proposals\, pitches\, or programmes\nInsights from peer organisations navigating similar challenges\nGreater confidence in bridging the gap between impact and fundability\n\nWho should join?\nThis session is open to all and is particularly relevant for: \n\nResearch and M&E teams\nPartnership and fundraising teams\nCXOs and organisational leadership\n\nIf you are working with health-focused enterprises or supporting ventures navigating donor-funded ecosystems\, this session offers a practical space to reflect\, learn\, and refine your approach. \nSpeakers\nASSIST Asia\nWith shared experiences from Pollinate Impact members

SUMMARY:Governing Board Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Governing Board meetings create space for the Pollinate Impact Governing Board to review organisational progress\, discuss key priorities\, and engage in conversations shaping the direction of the Network. \nFor Governing Board members only. \nThese monthly Governing Board meetings are an opportunity to step back from day-to-day operations and reflect on the broader direction\, health\, and evolution of the Pollinate Impact community. As the Network continues to grow across regions through new collaborations\, programmes\, and partnerships\, these sessions help ensure ongoing alignment around priorities\, governance\, and long-term strategy. \nDuring the meetings\, members may receive updates across programmes\, partnerships\, community engagement\, organisational health\, financials\, and emerging opportunities or challenges across the ecosystem. The sessions also create space for discussion around key learnings\, operational developments\, and areas requiring deeper reflection or collective decision-making. \nThe Governing Board meetings are designed to encourage thoughtful dialogue and active participation among members. They provide an opportunity to ask questions\, share perspectives\, and contribute to conversations that influence the future direction of the Network. \nAs Pollinate Impact continues strengthening relationships across the Global South incubation ecosystem\, these meetings help maintain shared understanding\, accountability\, and alignment across leadership and governance structures.
