Growth guidance programme for impact incubators

Real Support. Solving Real Problems.

Our Growth Guidance Programme provides intentional, one-on-one  support for the issues unique to your incubator. We’ve delivered 149 tailored sessions to 21 incubators across 15 countries in the Global South. We understand your challenges. From Kenya to Vietnam, our alumni have used the programme to make real, lasting changes

One moved from founder-led to board-driven leadership with a real-world blueprint.

Another dug into their program data, confronting the tradeoff between scale and depth.

A third analyzed years of donor data, uncovering what was holding them back.

Others tackled tough fundraising problems, revamped impact tracking, and redesigned programs for growth.

Pollinate Potluck Bangalore, India

The Growth Guidance program has been truly transformative, offering not just strategic clarity on our fundraising approach at IKP Eden, but also helping me personally develop a more structured way of thinking. Your insights, especially the real-world examples added immense value and helped ground abstract ideas into actionable direction. I particularly appreciate your candor in sharing the donor engagement journey — it brought both inspiration and practical lessons.

The Growth Guidance Programme is a Tailored, Hands-on Journey

We work to ensure  you don’t just learn the strategies you need, but receive the support to put them into practice.  To help you ensure your organisation can thrive in the complex landscape of social entrepreneurship. Designed to take you from insight to execution with two distinct phases—Guidance and Action.

Phase 1

Personalized Guidance for Real-World Challenges

Personalised, one-on-one guidance that meets you where you are professionally and operationally. No two incubators are the same—and generic advice won’t get you very far. Through direct, tailored mentoring, you’ll receive guidance that reflects the realities of your context, your stage of growth, and the decisions you’re facing right now. This is support designed to be relevant, and immediately useful.

Strategic interventions to unlock growth. We help you get clear on the specific barriers standing in your way. We’ll work together to identify two or three core areas where thoughtful intervention can move the needle—quickly and meaningfully.

Practical support in critical areas. Some of the most important elements of running an incubator are also the most overlooked. We help you strengthen the foundations that keep your organisation resilient and effective.

Phase 2

Post Guidance for Bridging Insight with Action

Once the guidance phase is complete, the real work begins! Putting your plans into action.

We’ll work with you to match the best possible Technical Assistance (TA) providers who understand your geography to help you implement your learning outcomes, making sure you have the technical expertise you need to execute your plans.

It has been an incredibly insightful and enriching experience, and I truly appreciate the opportunity to learn and grow. The discussions on donor discovery, pitches, and relationship management were especially valuable, and I am excited to apply these insights as we work to strengthen ONOW’s fundraising efforts.

Where you are determines where we start

Incubators consistently tell us which areas are holding them back the most. These are the key focus areas where we make the biggest impact for your growth.

Thank you for your incredible support throughout the Growth Guidance program. Your thoughtful facilitation gave us the space to ask hard questions, challenge assumptions, and translate complexity into clarity. We’re especially grateful for the way the program created space for meaningful exploration and a chance to dig into the financial modeling with your guidance. That process has equipped us with tools we’ll carry forward well beyond the program.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Growth Guidance Program addresses the growing number of incubators across stages, sectors, and geographies that need personalised guidance to complement other programming offered by Pollinate Impact. GGP diagnoses, designs and delivers tailored solutions, and aims to provide guidance to the CXOs such that guidance can be followed up and executed post-program. The framework is as follows: At the start of the program, you will gain a deep, intimate understanding of the unique challenge faced by you, then together we will design and deliver tailored solutions to address one or more of these challenges. Potential solutions included a fundraising strategy, an HR development plan, refining governance structures, and creating a CEO succession plan, amongst others. At the conclusion of the guidance phase, we conduct an evaluation to assess the impact of the intervention and how it has positively benefited the incubator. To date, we have guided 21 incubators spread across 15 countries in Africa, South & South East Asia.

As an incubator, you face many strategic choices and challenges such as - setting up an investment fund, creating a succession plan, scale up of your programs including expansion to newer geographies etc. At the same time, incubators also face many operating challenges which affect your day to day operations. Some of them include, how to build a better pipeline of incubatees, how to select potential winners, how to put together an effective mentoring program, how to build a network of investors to invest in its incubatees, etc. The growth guidance program delivers personalised, customised and co-created solutions to address these challenges.

We expect that you will need to commit one hour per fortnight for three months, with the possibility of additional sessions if needed. We advise that you set aside 2-3 preparatory work before each session. As part of the program, we ask that you provide midpoint and final feedback to help us enhance the experience. Additionally, we’d love to hear how the guidance has impacted your incubator over time. In the spirit of collaboration, and while maintaining confidentiality and privacy, Pollinate will share key learnings with our broader network, ensuring that other members can benefit from shared experiences and insights.

GGP guidance areas can vary, but historically, we have been able to provide guidance around the following thematic areas: Sustainability strategy and business modeling, Fundraising and donor engagement, Incubation curriculum design and program operations, Team structure and leadership development including enhancing their people and culture, Governance and finance, as well as setting up operating systems and processes.

The Growth Guidance Program is led by Paul Basil, Special Advisor to Pollinate Impact. Paul will offer guidance, as incubation and supporting early stage entrepreneurs have been Paul’s life mission and passion. Paul is the founder of www.villgro.org, one of India’s most prominent impact incubators that was founded in 2001 and has served as the CEO of Villgro for two decades. Paul was able to successfully replicate the Villgro model into Africa and the Philippines. In addition, Paul is a Co-founder & Partner at www.menterra.com, an impact investment fund that invests in early stage, impact enterprises. He has contributed to building the social enterprise ecosystem in India through Unconvention, India’s leading conference on innovation and social entrepreneurship across many cities in India , Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship at IIT-Madras that focuses on research and education and establishing the India Chapter of the Aspen Network for Development Entrepreneurs. Paul also serves on the governing board of the Kerala Start-Up Mission and is a member of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Social Tech Startup Steering Committee; and has served on the executive committee of ISBA, a member-driven network of incubators in India.

Paul was awarded the Ashoka Fellowship in 2002 for his outstanding social entrepreneurship in setting up Villgro. His two decades of work in the incubation space comes with a considerable track record and credibility. He is well-connected with incubators and incubator support organizations across the world. As a guide, he understands the nuances of incubation, having been a practitioner for many years, and, as a result, is able to empathize with member incubators around their challenges, understands their needs while creating effective partnerships and collaborations for their benefit.

Participants have shown increased knowledge in the area for which guidance was sought, along with positive shifts in attitudes, greater insights, and strengthened connections both during and after the program. One of the most impactful outcomes of the program is that incubators have started implementing ideas and suggestions generated during the solutioning phase of prior cohorts. For example, an incubator successfully secured buy-in from their board to kick start the transition from a CEO-led to a board-led organization. Similarly, another member enhanced their social media presence, showcasing their specialization in climate-focused incubation.
